New Southbound Program

New Southbound Policy Elite Study Program

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs established the New Southbound Policy Elite Training Program with the primary objective of promoting the implementation of Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy and strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural exchanges with countries in Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the South Pacific. The program aims to cultivate professionals with strong expertise and a deep understanding of local cultures, enabling them to play an active role in government agencies, enterprises, and non-governmental organizations, thereby enhancing cooperation between Taiwan and these countries.

Eligibility

Applicants must be sophomore to senior university students from New Southbound Policy countries.

Applicants must not hold a passport from China (including Hong Kong and Macau) or Taiwan (Republic of China).

Applicants must not receive any financial support from the Taiwanese government, institutions, or educational organizations.

Subsidy

01. Air ticket
One round-trip economy-class airfare to and from Taiwan will be reimbursed up to NTD 18,000 upon submission of valid receipts (actual expense reimbursement basis).
02.Living allowance
NTD 10,000 per month
03.Housing
Accommodation will be arranged in school dormitories (separate for male and female students). Dormitory assignments will be planned and organized by the school.
04.Student insurance
The school enrolls students in a basic health and accident insurance plan.
05.Professional Mandarin Course
3 classes per week, 162 hours per semester
